Education students pursuing an M.S. in Secondary Education, Special Education, or Teaching Excellence are eligible to apply for assistantships with select partner programs—allowing you to deepen your impact in local classrooms while advancing your own professional goals.

  • Compass Academy

    Support at-risk students in this extended day learning program in the Robert Benjamin Wiley Community Charter School. You’ll lead K-8 classrooms with literature and math instruction, athletic and health education, and art, music, and dance activities to encourage creativity and emotional and social development.

  • ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Early Learning Innovation Academy

    Teach progressive and intentional arts, wellness, and other academically rich activities to K-2 students. Modeled after the Carpe Diem Academy, MELIA provides extended academic enrichment at Northwestern School District, a rural, economically disadvantaged school district in Erie county.

  • Autism Support Initiative Classrooms

    Provide classroom staffing, clinical supervision, and day-to-day operations in an integrated public school setting serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Employ evidence-based strategies to teach students new skills and reduce problem behavior at the individual level.

  • Robert Benjamin Wiley Community Charter School

    Promote greater school-age student achievement while building your professional skills. You’ll contribute classroom support, academic coaching, small group instruction, and tutoring. Assistantships vary based on program needs and your individual skills and strengths.

  • ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Community Academic Labs

    Set up, supervise, and tutor K-8 students in three labs in Erie, located at the Booker T. Washington Center, the Martin Luther King Center, and Urban Erie Development. Collect and analyze data while monitoring student academic progress to make real-time instructional decisions.

  • Graduate Assistantship Criteria

    Graduate Assistants receive a tuition waiver and stipend for working at least 20 hours per week in the academic year. To be eligible, students must be admitted to a master's program. GAs cannot receive additional institutional aid (including any athletic aid) or have another campus job.

  • Barber National Institute

    Join our team at the Elizabeth Lee Black school at Barber National Institute, an approved private school that supports children with significant disabilities in reaching their fullest potential. You will gain experience from a highly trained and diverse in-building staff to receive the most up-to-date practice with technology, adaptive equipment, and behavioral techniques. The school offers you tutelage in a wide range of innovative services, including an adaptive kitchen, Lu interactive playground, active-floor technology, assistive technology, and much more.
